01 · Practice directions

Four areas we work in every day

Each engagement starts with a written scope, a fixed timeline and a named lawyer in charge.

01

Legal analysis

We examine your documents and facts, then set out the risks and the options in plain language. You receive a written opinion you can act on.

02

Document drafting

Contracts, corporate resolutions, powers of attorney and claim letters drafted from scratch. Every clause is tailored to Swiss practice and to your commercial goal.

03

Transaction support

We accompany sales, share transfers, leases and financing from due diligence to signing. Deadlines, conditions and registrations are tracked on our side.

04

Consultations

A focused session on one question, in person at Rue du Rhône or by video call. You leave with a clear answer and a short written summary.

02 · About the firm

A small Genève practice, built around written clarity

Vanburgh Counsel was founded in 2006 and has stayed deliberately compact. The lawyer you meet at the first consultation is the lawyer who signs your documents.

We serve Swiss and international clients from our office on Rue du Rhône, working in English, French and German across contract, corporate and property matters.

"A good opinion is one the client can read once and use twice."
  • Fixed fees agreed before work begins — no open-ended billing
  • Written conclusions on every matter, not verbal assurances
  • One named contact from first call to final filing
03 · How we work

Four steps, no surprises

I

First conversation

You describe the situation; we tell you within the hour whether we can help and what it will cost.

II

Documents & scope

We review the paperwork and confirm the scope, deadline and fixed fee in writing.

III

The work itself

Drafting, negotiation or filing proceeds with a short progress note at each milestone.

IV

Handover

You receive the final documents, a summary of what was done and clear next steps.

04 · Expertise

Where twenty years of files actually help

Most questions we receive are variations of matters we have handled before. That history is why our answers arrive quickly and our drafts survive the other side's review.

What clients say

"They rewrote a supply contract we had used for years and found three clauses that would have cost us dearly. The revision took four days."

Estelle RivazManaging director, Genève

"Our apartment purchase involved an inheritance from two countries. Vanburgh handled the notary and the registry without me chasing anyone."

Marek DolanPrivate client, Nyon

"Clear fee, clear deadline, clear answer. That is rarer than it should be in this profession."

Frequently asked

A one-hour consultation is charged at a flat rate agreed when you book. If the matter continues with us, that amount is credited against the fixed fee for the engagement.

Yes — we advise and draft in English, French and German. Documents filed with Swiss authorities are prepared in the language the authority requires.

Enquiries received on a working day are answered the same day. A written opinion on a reviewed file normally follows within three to five working days.

Regularly. We act for EU and UK clients with Swiss contracts, property or company interests, and coordinate with local counsel abroad where a matter requires it.
